Italian Capodimonte Ornate Porcelain Box
A rare and ornate Italian Capodimonte lidded large box with lid and hardware clip, high relief scenes and makers mark on the bottom. The box is covered with beautiful painted detail and color on all sides with gold details. There is a gold filigree rim on the edge of the upper and lower edge of the box opening. The box clap works. The outer edge of the corners of the box protrude out and are rounded. There is gilt decoration along the upper outer edge.

There individuals on the box lid and an angel on the front side. There are beautiful military style faces on the side corners of the box. Each side of the box has it's own individual art painting. The hinge holding the heavy porcelain lid is sound. While the metal clasp will shut, the lid does not close down all the way securely when the clasp is pushed down. The lid on the right side in particular remains partially open as pictured. There are no chips, cracks or flea bites. There is painted blue "N" with a crown over it on the bottom. The inside porcelain is white. Size: 12.25 W x 8.25 D x 5.5" T. The date of origin is unknown. Likely late 19th Century.
