The backstrip cloth is heavily tanned or discolored. There is shelfwear and discoloration on the upper and lower backstrip. The gilt on the backstrip is bright. There are dark lines on the backstrip over the title. There are discoloration areas on the back cover. There is a penned name and tear in the paper on the endpapers. The first pre-title page is very heavily tanned. The frontispiece print is of Church of St. Cross. The full color prints have descriptive paragraphs on the tissue opposite. There are a few light foxing spots on the title page. There are heavy black ink spots on the second “Contents” page. There is a 0.5” foxing spot on page 45, 119. There is a large moisture or oil spot along the edge of the bottom of the page from 163-174. It varies in size up to 2.5-inches wide. The lower right corner of page 173 is cut off, which is an illustration and tissue. The dark oil / soil spot is also present on the back inside cover along the bottom edge (3.75-inches wide). There is a pullout map of Hampshire in the back. 312 pages + illustrations and index.
