Bibliotheque Choisie Pour Les Dames. Copyright 1822. Published in Paris by Chez Aime Payen Libraire rue Serpente No 3. The cover is mostly loose, held on by 1-inch at the bottom. The book is a small edition with a heavily darkened / soiled cover. The cover is frayed along the edges and the lower right corner paper curls upward. The back strip is shabby chic. The number “8” on the backstrip may have been scripted. The back cover has a 2” vertical cut with heavy tanning and advertising text. The interior pages are mostly white and crisp with moderate foxing throughout. The book leans forward slightly. The title page is decorated with illustration. The outer edge of the pages in the back-half are heavily darkened. There may be a few pages with heavier foxing. The book feels fragile to open and review. 248 pages, 5 3/8 x 3 1/2”

The books are paper wrapped, large editions. The beige covers have yellow undertones. The cover of Volume 2 has heavier soiling and fingerprints. The lower right cover corner curls upward. There is paper missing on the upper backstrip of Volume 1. The binding of Volume 2 is completed separated in one area, page 305 (pictured). The title page is missing from Volume 1. The interior pages are soft, white and intact with heavy foxing throughout. Volume 2 has much lighter foxing throughout. Size: 9 x 5 5/8”, 464 + 458 pages.
