The lower right cover corner bumped and cloth is separated in areas along the lower cover edge. The cloth is separated and the lower cover / backstrip connection. The cloth on the backstrip is heavily darkened / tanned. The silver is bright on the backstrip. There is cloth missing on the upper and lower backstrip. There is a green penned signature on the right endpaper. There are two decorative endpapers in color. The title page is moderately to heavily tanned. The interior pages are soft and intact with moderate tanning throughout. There are two illustrated pictured of men in the book. 224 pages.

Originally published in 1865. A collection of three lectures the explore themes of education, gender and responsibilities in society. Contents include: Of Kings’ Treasuries, Of Queens’ Gardens, and The Mystery of Life and Its Arts. A picture of Victorian era attitudes and Ruskin’s philosophy on education, art and morality.
