The cover cloth is orange with red undertones and light fading. There is a white spot on the right edge (center). The gilt on the cover and backstrip has some fading. There is wear on the lower right cover cloth with some under-board exposed. There is shelf-wear and light discoloration on the upper and lower backstrip. The back cover is orange with some light soiling and a black spot (pictured). The gilt on the outer edge of the interior pages is darkened.

There is a antique large sticker on the left endpaper (4.5") for "The Tabard Inn Library", Philadelphia. There is a penned cursive name on the right endpaper dated 1945, "Dale Spaulding". There is heavy foxing along the edge of the right endpaper. There is large moisture spot in the gutter of the left endpaper. The book is tightly bound. The interior pages are crisp, white and intact with light mild tanning throughout. There is a little webbing visible in the endpaper gutter. The tissue has moderate foxing and a large moisture spot. The title page is tanned from the tissue, with a couple light foxing spots. The frontispiece illustration is pictured. There is light moisture on the right edge of page 5. There is dark foxing / soil spots in the lower margin of pages 34-35 and 148-149 (upper page). There is light pencil in the lower margin of page 85. There is a small brown spot (center) on page 96-97. The rear endpapers are white with a moisture spot along the upper edges. There is one page of rear advertising. 352 pages, 7 1/4 x 5 x 1 1/4"
