There are black spots on the back cover and one white spot. There are dents on all three sides of the back cover like the book was held by rope or leather at one time. There is heavy tanning and a penciled name on the right endpaper. The title page is heavily tanned. The frontispiece illustration is Napoleon on a horse. The interior pages are stiff with heavy tanning throughout.
