Edited by Henry Llewellyn Williams. The cover is dark chocolate brown cloth that is embossed and has bright gilt decoration on the cover and backstrip. There is a small soil spot along the right edge of the cover (center). There is light shelf-wear on the upper backstrip with small cloth separations. The gilt on the backstrip is slightly darkened when compared to the cover. There is a dark spot over the author’s name on the backstrip. The back cover has moderate soiling with dark spots on the lower left corner and clear spots along the backstrip connection. The endpapers are brown with a small chip along the right page edge. The tissue is enclosed. There is an illustration of the author on the frontispiece. The title page is partially loose about half-way down and very fragile. The copyright date is noted on the back of the title page. The book’s pages each have a decorative red border. There are at least three full page illustrations. There is an illustration of the street of his birth and “An Old House in Blois” from a drawing by Victor Hugo. The outer edge of the pages are gilded on three sides. The back endpapers are good.
