The cover is lightly textured with a black decorative border. The cover corners are lightly bumped and discolored. The gilt on the backstrip is darkened and there is discoloration on the upper and lower backstrip. The back cover is good with black decoration. There is light foxing on the endpapers and title page. There are quarter-page black and white illustrations of microorganisms throughout the book. The interior pages are crisp and intact with mild tanning throughout and heavy foxing. Some of the foxing spots are large.
