The gilt on the backstrip is bright with darker leather title blocks. The endpapapers are decorated with painted swirls in colors of red, blue and yellow. The outer edge of the pages decorative, blue speckled. The interior pages are lightly textured, soft and intact with mild to moderate tanning throughout.

Volume 19: “Contenant les IV premiers Livres des Confeffions de J.J. Rouffeau”. {Containing the first IV Books of Confeffions by J.J. Rouffeau}. This book contains the first chapter of this book. There is a small dark soil spot on page 11, 47, 49, 50, 168. There is some light soiling on the rear endpapers. There are some small sections of heavier tanning. 348 pages. Volume 27: The leather on the lower backstrip of the book labeled volume II is missing. The lower left corner of that cover is also chipped. The cover corners are bumped with under-board exposed. The back cover is good. There is a brown spot on the blank page opposite the title page. There is a light moisture spot on the lower left corner from pages 13-26. There are areas of speckles in the upper margin or light foxing. 403 pages.
