The cover corners are lightly bumped and bend downward slightly. There is a light black streak near the right-center of the cover. There is fraying and chipping of the cloth on the upper backstrip. The gilt decoration on the backstrip is darkened. The is cloth missing on the lower backstrip. The back cover is green with some light soiling and a small dark spot. There is cloth missing on the lower left back cover corner. The first white endpaper is missing. The hinge is starting to crack at the endpapers or has been repaired. There is a frontispiece illustration and tissue. The interior pages have a decorative red border throughout. There is gilt on the outer edge of the interior pages. There are several full page black and white illustrations. The interior pages are crisp and have moderate tanning throughout. The book feels like it could be laid flat at page 266. There is at least one upper right page corner with a crease. The interior pages are clean and well intact. Soiling on one page is pictured.
