The Odyssey of Homer, 1871

The covers are dark green with a gilt title. The cover corners are bumped with underboard exposed. There is quite a bit of cloth missing on the upper and lower backstrip of volume 1 (pictured). There are rubbed areas over the title on the backstrip. The title is pressed on the back cover (center). Volume 1: The hinge is cracked at the endpapers and the cover is pulling away from the inner spine, making it feel fragile. The endpapers are brown. There are two small penned signatures on a blank pre-title page. The title page is moderately tanned with a brown spot on the lower gutter. The book was published in large readable text (font size). The interior pages are soft and well intact with moderate to heavy tanning throughout. The rear hinge is cracked, but intact.
Volume 2: There are lightly rubbed discoloration areas on the cover. There is heavy fading and discoloration on the backstrip. There are sections of cloth missing on the upper and lower backstrip. There is a large chip in the cloth at the backstrip & back cover connection (pictured). The back cover is good with some light discoloration / rubbing. There are two small penned signatures on a blank pre-title page. The interior pages are crisp and intact throughout with moderate tanning.
